Spring Is A Wonderful Thing!

Fresh, Bright, and Silly

Spring is a wonderful thing

Springtime has arrived and spring is a wonderful thing. Here at Gold Leaf we’re excited, actually, straight giddy for the new season. Spring is without a doubt the most visually expressive time of year. So, with that in mind, shed off some layers, put on some brighter ones, and let’s have a bit of fun.

Spring is a wonderful thing

Here are some of our favorites this spring: Mint Marvel: Freshen up with a mint, white rum concoction: the classic mojito. Keep the libation simple with the basic ingredients or give it a spring theme by adding strawberries and basil leaves. Pink Madness: Just embrace the pink. We know we are! March, April, and May are the perfect months to wake up and smell the hydrangeas and roses. This season, we recommend putting these flowers in a cascade bouquet for a group of beautiful bridesmaids or a lavish table scape. Spring is a wonderful thingSpring is a wonderful thing Botanical Settings: Nothing looks more breathtaking centered on a table then orchids in water. Surround the flowers with candles or extra lighting underneath for a special glow. Plus, radiant orchid is the color of the year and one of the prettiest tones this flower comes in. Citrus Treat: A lemon cake tastes like spring and has the look to match it. This is one of our favorite desserts that brightens up any party and satisfies all sour and sweet cravings. It’s the perfect indulgence for the next bridal or baby shower you attend.

For the boys: This is no time to shy away from pastels, guys. An attractive, orange boutonniere like this one goes superbly against a black or dark grey suit. orange

Top 5 2015 Wedding Colors

The bold & bright will forever be classic, uplifting, and convey all the happiness you’re feeling at your wedding. However, we are so excited on the recent release of Pantone’s 2015 Color Trend Report. “En Plein Aire”, which in French translates to “in the open air”, is a combination of earthy neutrals, and airy, calming hues, to envelope everything from décor, to floral, to bridesmaids dresses with an effortlessly elegant look and feel. The collection has a plethora of colors to be inspired by, but these are our top 5 favorites for 2015 wedding colors.

tang

Tangerine is the perfect pop of color to be incorporated in floral.  It will subtly and pleasantly, warm up your wedding. We would love to see it used in décor or (for the more daring bride), fabrics!

tita

Shades of gray will forever be sophisticated and elegant. It is such a versatile color that can be used as a canvas and accentuated by contrasting colors; or used on it’s own to create a modern yet comfortable look.

mars

Marsala was named Pantone’s color of the year for 2015, and there is no question as to why. This color dominates in every form, from décor, to floral, to wearable fashion. Men and women both look stunning in this color as it really compliments any skin tone, (but I wasn’t passing on a photo of Ryan…you’re welcome).

ta

We ADORE Toasted Almond, (and the backless beauty being worn by our very own Gold Leaf Girl, Chelsea)! This color is such a beautiful neutral and can be paired and complimented by almost any hue. We love it with Dusk Blue!

blu

To close out our top 5, we have the effortless perfection of Classic Blue. It photographs beautifully, wears confidently, and will never go out of style.

Take a look at all of Pantone’s newest collection. We are positive you will fall in love, (again), and may even make a few tweaks for the big day! Just do us a favor, and don’t tell your planner we told you!

Spring Cleaning? Maybe Spring Shopping

Although we didn't have the winter of our dreams here in Aspen, we had some pretty incredible powder days and we are thankful.  With that being said, we are psyched for spring!!  It is just around the corner and although that means a mud pit of a town for the next 2 months, it also means bright blue skies only graying to bring our May flowers.  Our homes will get a good spring cleaning and our fleece bed sheets washed and packed away.  The tourism will quiet down and the locals will pipe up, leading to outdoor fun and preparation for the sweet summer!  We have put together a few items to revamp your home and life for the fresh new season!  (We pre-apologize to any men in your life, these things are girly...but it is physically impossible to turn down rain boots with a bow on them).

#1-The Perfect Rain boots-  Well we know it's going to rain! Technically these are a necessity...this-exact-pair.  Classy while keeping it young.  In love.

#2-James Smith Umbrella- Convenient and fashionable in one try.  Bring on the weather!

#3-Hello/Goodbye Doormat-  I need something to wipe my perfect wet boots on!  And how polite?

#4 & #5- Square & Lumbar Pillow-  We are loving this new print by Pottery Barn this spring.  It is happy, fresh, and just the right amount of whimsical (psst-it also comes as a bed set)!

#6-Wooden Chimes-  The sound of wind chimes always reminds us of open windows and doors.  Welcome the new breeze with a little song!

#7-Face Vase- We need them all.  The unique shape, style, and pastel colors have us trimming all the plants in all the neighbors' garden's.

#8-eRide Rock Crawler's- We figured opening and ending a blog segment with shoes is never a bad idea.  THESE shoes however, are amazing; perfect for the wet and slippery terrain everyone's going to be experiencing on the first hikes of the season.  These shoes have amazing traction and amazing support for up and downhill.  No more smashed toes!

We hope everyone had a joyful, safe winter and we send our cheers' for a gorgeous and adventuresome spring season!

2017 Pantone Colors

Feeling moody? A deep green paired with pale pink might be just the mood you are looking for. Pantone announced their Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report as kale and pale dogwood and we think this duo is perfect for fall. 2017-pantone-colors Every year Pantone declares a color "Color of the Year". Twice a year the company hosts a meeting of representatives from various nations' color standards groups. After presentations and debate, they choose a color for the following year. The results of which guide florists, fashion designers and other consumer-oriented companies to drive their designs and planning for the upcoming year. pantone-guides-design “One of the things that we saw this year, was a renewed sense of imagination in which color was appearing in context that was different than the traditional,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature, our Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling.” kale-prarie-grasses-at-roaring-fork-club Kate Holstein Photography From the warmth of sunny days evoking dry prairies, grasses and pale dogwood and the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air with kale. pale-dogwood-floral-aspen Designers have applied color in playful and precise combinations to fully capture the potential, hope and transformation that we desire for each spring. It may be fall, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with a spring color tone. Though pastel colors are most commonly used for spring palettes, combining these soft colors with a deep green can transition them for fabulous fall look. spring-pantone-colors-at-roaring-fork-club There are plenty ways to incorporate pale dogwood and kale with florals and pretty table-scapes! It is up to our team of designers at Gold Leaf Event Design and Production to work hand in hand with many vendors to bring the dream to reality. Contrast does not have to mean a crazy bold or stark difference, it can be neutral colors combined which have enough variance to make each stand out a little bit more. The details of any event are important and can really tie together and elevate a look when executed correctly. Texture layering is definitely on the list of details that can be easy to overlook but have a big impact on the overall look of a table-scape or event. kale-table-scape-aspen
